As per my ultrasound, Baby Bullet weighs 6 pounds and 10 ounces already by the way so he’s very ready to come out. As I said though, I just wish he’d stay inside mommy’s tummy for a while more until his ate’s done with her school program.

I have obviously neglected this blog.

I hope to make up one of these days.

Baby Bullet update :

He’s doing fine, very fine that at 34 weeks of my pregnancy, he already weighs a little over 5 pounds. These past few days though, I get to have minor contractions so I rushed to my OB yesterday and she made me undergo a non-stress test. Results were fine though so I guess I’m just being paranoid or something. I’m on my 35th week now so in no time, Baby Bullet will make his grand arrival. I can’t wait and so does everybody around me especially the daddy!!!

Note: During my last ultrasound, Baby Bullet already weighs 3 pounds and 5 ounces!

Your baby now weighs around 2.5 pounds / 1.1 kilograms and measures about 15 inches / 38 centimetres from head to toe. In boys, testicles descend from near the kidneys through the groin en route to the scrotum. In girls, the clitoris is relatively prominent because it’s not yet covered by the still-small labia. These will grow to cover it in the last few weeks before birth.

Your baby’s head is getting bigger, and brain growth is very rapid at this time. Nearly all babies react to sound by 30 weeks.

Your baby’s nutritional needs reach their peak during the third trimester. You’ll need plenty of protein, vitamin C, folic acid, iron, and calcium (about 200 milligrams is deposited in your baby’s skeleton every day), so eat foods rich in these nutrients. The skeleton hardens even more and the brain, muscles, and lungs continue to mature. So take a look at our eating well guide to make sure you are getting the right minerals and vitamins.

On my 28th week, I had my 4d ultrasound at Asian Hospital last Wednesday.  We finally had a glimpse of Baby Bullet’s face and from the looks of it, he looks like the husband again. What do you think?  I am coming back next week though for a re-scan for more better photos and a cd as my OB sonologist said that since Baby Bullet was still in breech position, it was hard to get nice and clear shots of him.

Anyway, I felt guilty though that I haven’t been shopping enough for Baby Bullet so here, I forced myself to buy online from Ralph Lauren since they are on sale.

Mind you, this is the best I can come up with …

By this week, your baby`s crown-to-rump length is approximately 9.2 inches. Remember, that is only from the top of his head to his bottom and does not include his leg measurements! Your baby weighs almost 2 pounds and is beginning to put on weight. Your uterus is about 2.5 inches above your bellybutton and you will continue to grow approximately 1 cm each week. If you have been eating a well-balanced diet, you probably have gained about 16-22 pounds so far. Because your baby has moved further up, you may get occasional pain underneath your ribs.

After a month of having his eyelids sealed shut, your baby begins to open his eyes again this week. Your baby`s eyes are almost completely developed. Your baby`s eyes are blue in the womb and may change colors later in life. This is true for all races because the iris doesn`t have its final color until a few months after birth. However, some babies are born with darker or lighter shades of blue. Your growing baby will continue to put on layers of fat until he is born. He is still lean at this point of the pregnancy though. By the time your baby is born, he will assume the typical newborn`s plumpness. Your baby`s skin will still be wrinkled and red, but the fat continues to fill the skin out.

Finger and toe nails continue to grow.

Blood vessels start to develop in the lungs to prepare the baby for life outside the uterus.

Your baby`s blood circulation is completely functional. The umbilical cord system continues to grow and thicken as blood travels with considerable force through the body to nurture the baby. The placenta is now almost equal in size to the baby.

Even though it is still way too soon for your baby to be born yet, the chance of survival without severe abnormalities is now 70% provided it is born in a hospital.

I was advised by my OB though to watch out on my sweets intake as baby bullet is big for his age. He is said to be on the 90th percentile and since I’m just on my second trimester, I cannot afford such as he can get bigger when I reach my last trimester already.  Oh well, we’ll see. I crave for caramel sundae almost everyday pa naman.

By the way, we just got back from HK the other day and I must say, traveling while pregnant is a bit hard but manageable.  I just needed to walk slow the whole time to my husband’s dismay haha. He kept on kidding that we were walking in the moon LOL!

This scan is used to detect abnormalities of the baby and it is often performed at around 22 weeks. Most babies are healthy but sadly some have serious problems, which almost always cannot be predicted by a family history of the health of the mother.

Approximately 70 per cent of all serious congenital malformations can be detected by this scan. Thus, even if the baby appears normal on this scan there is still a small chance that your baby will have a problem.

Sometimes it is difficult to obtain optimal views of a certain part of the baby’s anatomy if the baby is in an awkward position. Rarely it might be necessary to come back for a repeat scan so as to complete the examination.

The sex of the baby can almost always be determined on scanning at 20 weeks but Mr Economides will only tell you if you wish to know this information.
